Snorkel Tour of Underwater Explorer Jean Cousteau's dedicated "Snorkel Trail". 2nd to only the Great barrier reef, this hidden treasure is well traveled and would make any pirate happy as one of our expert Guide's navigated you thru the "Snorkel Trail" dedicated by Jean-Michele Cousteau in May 2002. There are two sets of concrete cannons, a large anchor, and a ballast pile replicating a shipwreck common in these waters many years ago. The trial was started in 1998 & took 4 years to complete. The shallow reef trail varies from 8 - 16 feet and is 1 of 3 Reef Systems that host a wide variety of tropical sea life you may see:
Large Sea Turtles Blue Tang Parrotfish French Angels Spotted Scorpionfish
Caribbean Spiny Lobster Doctorfish Tarpon Nurse Sharks Spotted Goatfish
Peacock Flounder Barracuda Eels Manta Rays Trumpet Fish
Blue-Headed Wrasse Eagle Rays Octopus Cuttlefish Sergeant Majors
Our original Tour was created over 10 years ago to complement the 1st Bio rock Project in the USA: The Bio rock Project utilized a low-level electric current from 2 solar-powered buoys to help corals grow much faster than they would in a natural environment while also helping to create vital new underwater habitat for tropical fish, corals, and other species. Unfortunately, the project was abandoned, but thanks to our loyal Guides we have evolved and continued showing off the rich history and beauty of this awesome reef system.
BONUS: Guest may choose to Kayak or Paddle Board for the remainder of the return date for only an additional $12/pp.

HISTORY The City of Fort Lauderdale is named for a Second Seminole War fortification built on the banks of the New River in 1838. That year, Major William Lauderdale led a detachment of Tennessee Volunteers south along the east coast of Florida to capture Seminole agricultural lands and battle the elusive Indian warriors. Altogether, three forts named after Major Lauderdale would be constructed: the first at the fork of New River; the second at Tarpon Bend; and the largest on the beach at the site of Bahia Mar. None of the forts survive today. Incorporated on March 27, 1911, encompassing approximately 36 square miles with an estimated population of 186,220, Fort Lauderdale is the largest of Broward County's 31 municipalities and one of the ten largest cities in Florida.

Fort Lauderdale Adventures is proud to offer this exploration of the Bonnet House western border for the first time ever. Celebrating over 100 years, we are able to exhibit these saltwater wetlands that support a fragile ecosystem vital to south Florida's ever endangered habitat. We host exclusive canal access that leads to the center of the Bonnet House and was uncharted until our innovative ideas created a new recreational activity for the first time ever at this Historical Preservation of over 100 years. Bonnet House is a haven for migratory birds, year round birds indigenous to Florida wetland and coastal areas, and manatees that occasionally seek refuge in the estate’s Boathouse Canal. The jungle of mangrove trees produces a thick network of intertwined roots to prevent soil erosion and provide shelter and food for fish and wildlife. Manatee, land and sea fiddler crabs, and a variety of saltwater fish find a secure home in this ecosystem. The Cove is the perfect home for our Great Blue Heron, Green Herons, Egret's, Ibis, and the rare Great White Heron that can only be found in this part of the world.
Additionally, guest may choose alternative tours that include routes that differ between our Seven Isles Tour or Venice of America that both feature multi-million dollar mansions, mega-yachts, and the amazing landscapes.
After your Paddle, enjoy a self-guided tour of the Bonnet House and Gardens. We recommend planning for at least 90 minutes to see the site: Visit bonnethouse.stqry.app/1 for the audio tour.

In compliment to the natural vegetation, the grounds contain a Desert Garden composed of arid plantings, a hibiscus garden, and the main courtyard planted with tropical vegetation. Evelyn Bartlett was a passionate orchid collector. Various blooming examples are rotated regularly through the estate’s Orchid Display House. The grounds feature a variety of plants and trees imported from all over the world and when combined with the natural coastal wetlands makes a great home for it's many habitants including Green Heron, Blue Heron, Egrets, Ibis, Hawks, Racoons, Squirrels, and even a Monkey. Self Guided Historic Art Museum, Gallery and Studio Access
Built in 1920 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Bonnet House Museum & Gardens is one of the few complete homes and studios of two American artists with original furnishings open to the public. Nestled among miles of beachfront development are 35 acres of a native barrier island ecosystem. Chicago-born artist Frederic Clay Bartlett created Bonnet House on South Florida oceanfront land given to him and his second wife, Helen Louise Birch, by her father, Hugh Taylor Birch, a prominent Chicago attorney, real estate investor, and naturalist. Frederic graduated from Munich’s prestigious Royal Academy. The families last request was that the Bonnet House remain preserved in time. The museum has art in every room all the way to Fredericks last days when he was painting the floor in the music room. We can't possibly describe it as you MUST come see for yourself. For complete details visit bonnethouse.org.
About Coconut Cove named by Fort Lauderdale Adventures Founder, Brian Galton
The name came from observing a collection of coconuts that wash up on our tiny beach launch & hideaway and was then made obvious after watching a Disney movie named “HOOT” that was filmed here. Coconut Cove was once a mangrove and buttonwood swamp until the late 1920's, when the U.S. Army Corp. of engineers was granted permission to deposit the fill while dredging the Intracoastal. The fill caused the swamp to perish, which prompted Mr. Bartlett to plant rows of Coconut Palms where the current Bonnet House parking lot exists. The property is a blend of native and exotic flora including a Desert Garden, Orchid House, Shell Museum, Fruit Groves, Freshwater Slough, Wild Coffee, Silver Palms, Coontie Plants shaded by Gumbo Limbo, Seagrapes, Sabal Palms, and Paradise Trees to name just a few splendors in addition to the 1920 Bonnet House Museum with it's incredible architecture built around a Fountain Garden and displaying art, sculptures, and collectibles from all over the world. It is truly the last of Old Florida in the present day and a celebration of the protected history and the legacy of Frederic Clay and Evelyn Bartlett's vision and talent.

We have free parking and a healthy restaurant next door featuring Smoothies, Salads, and Sandwiches made with healthy local fruits and vegetables. A quick Video is available for Mental Preparation (Just Ask). If Guided, your Instructor will start off with some quick pointers and launch you into the Knee Position. Once you establish you're able to steer and control the direction of the board; then you will be ready to Stand Up.
The entire Voyage is great practice for First Timers as your Guide will provide Instructions along the way for those needing assistance or just give the advice to improve your technique. Beginners Course: Learn To Play Pickleball
Beginners: Our Pickleball Experience makes it FUN and EASY to LEARN and provides a great way for those curious to decide if this is your new favorite activity. *In 2021, 2022 and 2023, the sport was named the fastest-growing sport in the United States by the Sports and Fitness Industry Association. The growing popularity of the sport has been attributed to its short learning curve, its appeal to a wide range of ages and fitness levels, and its low startup costs. Pickleball is a racket or paddle sport in which two (singles) or four (doubles) players hit a perforated, hollow plastic ball with paddles over a 34-inch-high (0.86 m) net until one side is unable to return the ball or commits an infraction. Pickleball is played indoors and outdoors. While this is designed for beginners; we are happy to customize practice and training specifically to your request or needs!
Beginners Course Outline:
We will be teaching you the Basic Rules including scoring, serving, positions, court etiquette and sportsmanship:
We encourage you to review the USA PICKLEBALL OFFICIAL RULEBOOK:

3. We will show you how to serve and teach you an easy strategy to take your game to the next level.
4. An Instructor will work you thru an entire game having you practice calling the score.
5. We will provide you with resourceful tips and strategies to improve your game with or without an Instructor
Students are encouraged to bring own Paddle, but we always carry extra paddles if you do not have one then "No Worries".

Normal Swim Attire. There is always a possibility of falling in the water, so Reef Shoes are advised as they will help protect your feet from areas that have sharp bottoms, coral, reef, etc... Sun protection is advised including Lotions, Glasses, and Hats.
(Neck Cords are suggested to prevent loss during a splash in the water)
Our Paddleboards weigh 22 to 29 pounds with a few exceptions. We offer many sizes, but 10’6″, 11′, and 12′ are the Industry Standards and we stock all of them in our Rental and Tour Fleet. They are easy to carry a short distance during normal weather conditions, however, we caution everyone to be self-liable for personal injuries due to transporting aboard. Winds can cause uncomfortable twisting if the board catches you off balance; so good stability and quick reactions to changes may be required.
Beginners should start in calm waters, but there is no requirement. We provide Group Lessons every day at 10 AM and 1 PM with our Island City ECO Paddle and Lesson or our now World Famous “Venice of America” Lesson and Tour. Advanced Reservations are Required. Call (954) 440-4562. We are located on the River and offer instant access to the water.

This will enhance your Rental if you are a beginner. For more details call (954) 440-4562

No, however, there are several factors in determining when and where to paddle. Going against current or strong wind conditions can be challenging for anyone. The River has low and high tides that are often unpredictable in strength and the ocean is equally unpredictable with sometimes choppy waters or red flags that cannot be predicted with trying to make advanced reservations. our Riverfront Showroom is the best location for all beginners. Some of our Tours are done in Groups, so we suggest selecting a time that our Guides can provide younger paddlers more attention. Everyone must be able to swim. Life Jackets are provided and are required on the boards, however, the board itself is a giant PFD, so you are not required to wear the life jacket (If there is any doubt; then wear your life jacket provided). Parents should advise our experts of your child’s skills & we will be happy to cater to your needs.
Yes! However, unlike boats, kites, sails, and other water sports, paddle boarding has very little equipment to worry about. Essentially it is just you, the paddle, and the board. This makes it relatively safe, without much complication and risk. hence, AVOID FALLING ON YOUR PADDLE or BOARD. Reef shoes are suggested to avoid possible injury to your feet. Ocean and River Bottoms have coral and sharp objects that can cause serious injury, so precautions should be taken. Note; Experienced Paddlers do not wear shoes, but everyone does so at their own risk. Weather and Ocean conditions can also be the main factors in determining safety. Check various weather reports for your personal precautions. All our boards come equipped with a leash (keeps board tethered to your ankle) and a Life Jacket (PFD) which should be worn if you cannot swim from shore to shore or about 100 yards to be safe. Plus, all of our Instructors are CPR certified. Sunrise Paddle Boards follow Ocean and Intracoastal Ordinances and Policies to bring you the confidence you can count on! (See our Safety Procedures)
Questions Call (954) 440-4562
We feel our Instructors are the Best! You will be pleasantly surprised to know that many First Timers never fall at all or maybe only one time for the entire Lesson and Tour. This sport is Fun and Easy to Learn! But if you do then no worries because we even train you how to fall. A little splash in the water is fun for everyone anyway, so there is no reason to be afraid. The Paddleboards are big and serve as a PFD, but we still have a Life Jacket and Leash on every board. We do everything possible to make sure you have a safe and enjoyable time. We are in brackish water, so the tides flush the river regularly. We play in this water all the time, but we don’t suggest it as a place to swim. We get hot and jump in for a quick way to cool off and then jump back on our Paddle Boards. We have been operating these waterways since 2010 and nobody has ever registered a complaint resulting from the water and that is over 50,000 Guests and counting.
SUP is known as an abbreviation for Stand Up Paddle Board.
There is a reason why Paddle boarding or SUP is the fastest-growing sport in the world. Its popularity is largely due to how Fun and Easy to Learn the sport is for all ages. Whether you are 5 or 85; there are people of all ages that are seen on lakes, rivers, oceans, canals, and waterways everywhere. Calm conditions are ideal for tranquility, however, fitness-conscious people enjoy paddling against currents to maximize a core body workout. Almost anyone can SUP and while you can experiment with a Paddleboard on your own terms; we recommend taking a lesson for your first time after that you will have the confidence and experience to enjoy the many paddle boarding activities.
